My favorite flower. The peony is named after Paenon (also spelled Paean), a student of Asclepius, the greek god of medicine and healing.  A large fragrant flower that comes in a beautiful range of colors. They are native to Asia, Southern Europe, and Western North America.

Tip from my sister:  If peony bushes are not growing well, pour some soda around them to attract ants.  Ants and peonies have a symbiotic relationship.  When you are ready to bring them in the house, turn them upside down in water to draw the ants out.  Then put in the vase!
