"Fighting Fancy"

I had so much fun helping out with the 2014 Rock the Runway fashion show in Little Rock this past week.  It was an honor to even get to play a small, small part in such an important cause.
 The show benefits the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute at UAMS and the Little Rock-based non-profit Fighting Fancy.  All profits raised from the show are split equally between the two organizations.
  { To read more about the organizations click here}

I assisted my friend and co-worker, Tara, with styling and organizing the Dillard's models for the show.  I was so excited that Tara asked me to help, as I got the opportunity to express some extra creativity at work.  {Thanks again, Tara for letting me help out!}  It was nice to mix things up and do something I don't get to do on a daily basis.  There were over sixteen businesses that were involved with the show, and I have to say everyone looked amazing, as did the venue.
Great job to everyone that was involved!

Each store had six models, along with a breast cancer survivor who rocked the runway.  Our survivor, Maeghan was so sweet, and she looked absolutely beautiful strutting her stuff.  Maeghan shared her journey with us while we were backstage getting ready for the show.  It was such a pleasure to meet her and hear her story.  I greatly admired her confidence, strength, and kindness, not only that she showed that night, but that she must carry with her everyday as someone who has battled this diesease.
 {Thank you for walking for us Maeghan, you were a rock star!}

For our look, we went for a mixture of soft and hard colors, mostly inspired by the Ted Baker Spring/Summer 2014 collection, which is the main designer we showcased.  We kept it fresh by mixing floral prints with splashes of black and white, while adding chunky gold jewelry to keep the sophisticated dresses young and fun.  As for hair and make-up, Tara and I agreed to also keep it simple to let the clothes speak for themselves.  Two of our fabulous Chanel make-up artist made our vision come to life with a bare eye, pop of white eyeliner, and a bold brow and orange lip. We were so pleased with how it turned out.
{Thank you Lucero, Charolette, and Constance for hair and make-up!}

I took my camera along for the ride to document the action backstage.
  I don't use my DSLR quite enough, and snapping pics before the show had me asking the question "Why don't I use this thing more???"
I got to play fashion photographer, and I have to say it was
SO. MUCH. FUN.

My Skin Routine

These makeup remover wipes are by far my favorite.  They smell great and don't sting my eyes when taking my mascara off.

 For the past few months I have been trying out this skin care regime.  Although I experienced breakouts the first couple weeks, the results have been amazing.  I have seem great improvement in my skins overall appearance.  Even with young skin, its important to start preventing skin damage and reducing the appearance of wrinkles.  (I feel old even talking about this...a few years ago I never thought about wrinkles!)
 The PM moisturizer is a little strong for my skin right now, so I usually skip out on that...but I love the daily mask, toner, AM moisturizer and eye cream.  See below for some of my {poorly taken} before and after shots with my iPhone...You can see fine lines on my forehead become less noticeable!  If you are in search for a great skincare regime, you should try this one!  The results are worth it.

I LOVE my Clarisonic!  I use mine at lease 2-3 times a week.  It makes my skin super smooth and also makes my pores much less visible.

This stuff is my favorite beauty secret.  It is a ancient healing balm with "legendary powers".  Sounds silly, but the Egyptians really knew what they were doing.  I put it on every night as my moisturizer.  It is light and really absorbs into the skin. It's made of simple ingredients- honey, beeswax, olive oil, royal jelly and bee pollen, and is known for its amazing benefits for both hair and skin.  I cannot live without it now!  Even Will tries to take it from me. Hah!

Sorry for the poor iPhone pics...but this stuff seriously works!

Thanks for stopping by!
Wishing you a fabulous week!

the blank canvas called stripes.

Dress: Dillard's
( Bought in store, same dress available here and there also similar below.:) )
Necklace: Maude Boutique, sold out. ( similar below )

In the summer, an essential piece to any girls wardrobe is the sundress.
  Easy, breezy, and a one-step solution to putting an outfit together.
 Finding a sundress in a versatile print, such as a strip, can open up many outfit opportunites in your closet.  In a way, a neutral striped dress is somewhat a blank canvas and that is what drew me to this one.  I could visualize all of the different ways I could accessorize it, and for me that is what plays a huge part in justifying a purchase.

So with that said, I forgot about the little black dress.  It's all about the little striped dress this summer.

pineapple sights, summer nights.

There are few things I love more than summer.
I live for days spent by water, soaking up the sun.
And nights on a patio, where you could sit outside and stare at the sky forever.
{with a cold beer or margarita in hand, preferably.}

Last night consisted of a typical evening walk, and dinner with my love at one of our favorite spots, The Fold.
Simple? yes.  But in the summer time, simplicity is what it's all about.

Since Will and I are long distance while he is in dental school, I am so appreciative of his summers off where he is free to come back to Arkansas. We can just spend "normal" days together.
No ticking time clock, no worrying that we only have the weekend or a day or two here or there.
It is so nice, and makes summer that much sweeter.
For us, it's really just about being outside,
even if it's in the nineties and a body of water near is a must.

Last night's look consisted of sun-kissed skin, sandals and shorts.
Not just any shorts...pineapple patterned shorts.
I mean, how stinkin' cute?
As you all know, I am such a sucker for a good print...
especially in the summer.
The brighter, the better in my opinion.

I got these shorts from Aerie this past week.  Love that they can easily be worn to the pool or for a night out for dinner. So glad I snatched them up while their summer semi-annual sale is going on.  The sale is still happening so be sure to check it out here!  They have SO many cute pieces that are perfect for lazy days by the pool {at price points your wallet will thank you for}.

I absolutely love these razor front tanks I found at American Eagle this week.  Not only is the cut super flattering, but the tank comes in an array of colors and prints.  They are currently on sale for $9.99!  Such a deal for a fun summer basic.  I may just have to go back for more.

Thanks for stopping by today!
